-On April 12th, Dr. Zhang was awarded the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work.
Dr. Zhang Hongjie is a talented and productive scholar with a high standing in the field of natural product chemistry. Since joining the University in December of 2011, Dr. Zhang has been tireless in his efforts to conduct high impact research with his well-led and motivated teams while at the same time proactively soliciting grants to fund his research.
The Selection Committee finds Dr. Zhang’s innovative research work and untiring efforts in opening up new research areas vastly admirable and recommends him for the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work.
-On May 23rd, PhD students won second prize at the “Challenge Cup” National Competition – Hong Kong Regional Final – Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Ms. Pan Wenhui and Ms. Xia Yixuan won a second prize for start-up projects at the “Challenge Cup” National Competition – Hong Kong Regional Final – Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held at the Hong Kong Science Park on 22 and 23 May. Their entry was among 181 projects submitted from nearly 600 students from local tertiary institutions. Their project was entitled “Avantgarde Formulation of Skin-lightening and Skin-protecting Products with Natural Ingredients”. In addition, they set up a biotechnology company to develop skin products suitable for oriental skin by extracting compounds from Chinese medicinal plants.
